About ForeverDiff

ForeverDiff is an independent database of what changes in the World of Warcraft client between Classic Era and World of Warcraft: Forever. It exists because the data is public and machine-readable, but nobody publishes the diff itself as a browsable, per-entity database.

It is built and maintained by the Vient team. We are not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment. Every number on this site is read from Blizzard's own game client, with the build it came from, and both sides of a change are always shown. The one exception is a Forever item's stats, weapon damage and armor, which the modern client computes rather than stores: we run the client's own formula over the client's own tables and flag those numbers as computed (see computed values). We call a change a buff or a nerf only where the client's own numbers make the direction plain. The sentences on each item, spell, recipe and talent page are written by the site's code from those client rows, by fixed rules (see how page text is written).

Our sources and checks are described in the methodology. If a value here is wrong, please tell us: see corrections.
